There were times that called for the use of ancient and powerful words, the acknowledgment of humans in a crisis everywhere and everywhen since language was first invented. This was one of them. "Shit." Aurora said.

From Kevin Siembieda page;

“Erick passed away as gentle as a snowflake.”

That’s how Kay Kozora, Erick’s ‘Beautiful Kate’ of nearly 30 years put it when she called with the sad news. She and other loved ones were present when Erick passed away, Saturday evening, June 7, 2008. A Press Release with more details can be found on the main page of Palladium's website. These are my personal thoughts.

Dammit. His first reports about his treatment were so encouraging, but when he hadn't updated his blog in awhile, I starting fearing the worst.

Yeah, it seems to have come a lot faster than I had thought.

Rest well, Erick. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Gary, Bob, and now Eric in a three-month span....

Rough, for me and all gamers, but I honor their lives and work

Wow. I haven't heard JG mentioned in a long time. Sorry to hear about Bob, in that case.

I remember seeing the Judges' Guild stuff at the Compleat Strategist in Florida, back when it existed. Same place I bought my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, now that I think of it.

I didn't know Bob as well as Gary or Marc (Miller, the creator of traveller), but he was key to the development of the RPG industry in forming the first 3rd party publisher of game material. His City State of the Invincible Overlord stands even to this day in my opinion as the best urban setting developed for an RPG.

From my correspondence, he combined enthusiasm and optimism in an infectuous way, and I am grateful that he lived to see his company reborn out of the ashes and publish a D20 version of the CSIO.

For those that missed it on the other board, here is the blog created by Erick's friend, Kevin Siembieda of Paladin Books, after Erick was diagnosed with cancer.

It always boggles my mind when I find out the names on my books are real people, y'know? Real people get pancreatic cancer or get hit by buses...I kind of liked it better when they were just names. Names are immortal.

Best wishes to his family and friends. :(
