Yeah, I saw it on RPG.net. Not much info yet, just 'powered by', but what's actually getting powered?

Don't know, really. Still, at least something's happening :) I'll be checking for updates anyway, hopefully it'll become clearer soon.

Some chat on theRPGsite and here.

Seems that a group has approached Diceless by Design (the folks who are selling Erick's work) and acquired a licence to put out a setting which is compatible with ADRPG. This means they can use the rules but not the acutal Amber parts.

They got Jason Durall (of the vaporware REBMA sourcebook) on board as lead writer, which I see as a very positive move. Jason says that it won't be an Amber supplement or direct Amber ripoff, but instead will be a game which could stand on its own. Or a person with ADRP could pick it up without any real conversion issues.

This is still on the ground-floor of development, but has me pretty excited. :D

Greetings folks,

Thought I would stop in and say hello.

Jason is going to answering the Power 19 Questions of Rpg design and we will have a detailed pitch about the setting plus a piece of promotional art so you can see what Jason has in mind.

I am of course available to answer any questions we have answers too.

Nice.

Firstly, welcome to SoA Mr. Russell and Rite Publishing.

Secondly, I think I can safely speak for the majority and say we are looking forward to the development of this project.

There is a discussion board for all of the Patrons. I am a Silver-level Patron at the moment (I may upgrade to Gold) so I get to see most of the stuff there.

Mostly introductions and brainstorming, but it's nice to see that things are getting underway!

Just to update for those interested. I upgraded to Gold so I get to see almost everything being developed. Probably only Steve and Jason are better connected.

Jason has been working hard on a new universe with powers in conflict with one another. The plan is for this game to be similar to but not a rip-off of the Amber universe. That way you can take the ideas and powers from the game and add them to your existing Amber campaigns if you like.

The standard attributes are still there. The auction is still there. The basic rules mechanic is still there. Jason's intent is to add rather than replace.

I threw together a playtest doc for my own use by taking Jason's posts and tossing 'em into a Word file and it's over 40 pages so far without any artwork. Things are progressing slower than we all hoped, but they are progressing.

And I really think that what I've seen of Jason's work so far is really well done. It's not a direct Amber rip-off, but clearly has taken inspriation from the Amber setting. I think it will provide some refreshing options that can be put right into your ADRP campaign! :D
