There were times that called for the use of ancient and powerful words, the acknowledgment of humans in a crisis everywhere and everywhen since language was first invented. This was one of them. "Shit." Aurora said.

Sorry, it's beer.

A bottle of Boulevard wheat distracted me. :)

As someone not part of this, I have 2 questions:

1) Is this about that game that had a blurb about PC's having an influence on what happened to Canon? The What If... game? Because this sounds like the total opposite!
2) Where could one find these MP3s? I'm interested :)

To answer ikay's question...yes, yes, it is that game...also affectionately known as the What Will Be game and the Whatever game...ummm, and in my household the WTF? game.

Quote:
I would have been in that cell that was being reserved for Corwin. At which point I would have been stuck writing angsty fanfiction for weeks until my cat broke me out of jail. Or Mother.

Actually, after a long year of waiting, you would have been informed that the door to your jail cell was never actually locked and that you could have left any time you wanted to despite previous information from the GM that might have led your obviously mentally incompetent character to believe otherwise. Gosh, everyone knows that...

As my very first RPG, I consider the What If game a most excellent experience for me. I have been so well schooled by the GM from that game that I am completely oblivious to any kind of plot hammering poor Cynwyd might attempt to throw at me in his campaign (not that he ever does...). In fact, you couldn't even pay points to be as invulnerable to plot hammering as I am....hell, I'm freaking thrilled whenever my player gets to say something and isn't told she's stupid by all of the NPCs...It no longer takes much to please me. Seriously though, the best part of What If was all the excellent players I got to meet. All that being said, it is not the way the game was run, or the pm thing, or any other in game stuff that really upsets me. The thing that bothers me the most is that all of our work is no longer available to the public. That still really steams me. Hopefully it will be a lesson learned for GMs in the future to be a little kinder when they decide to dismantle their campaigns.

I've been in a lot of games for a lot of years, and I can promise you this is the first instance of the Railroad Conductor kicking people off his tracks with no warning so they couldn't take their toys to go play elsewhere.

I had already saved that ridiculous set of character quizzes so I could show my future players that I am not a raving psycho when I whip out the quiz I use once in a blue moon, and I wisely wrote my background in Word instead of straight to the board, so I have that. I didn't log that game because it was written in First Person Present, not to mention the hundreds of misspellings and typos in some of those posts (seriously people, they make spell checkers for browsers. Free. Get one). It would have been a time consuming bitch to edit all that into a coherent log. But if I had some fucking warning, I could have pulled out some of Francesca's better scenes. Or some of Tara's more hilarious ones. Her internal thoughts when she was with the Elders were brilliantly funny.

Ah, thank you for the compliment. I am a firm believer that when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. Or, as in this case, when life gives you brown putrid rotting lemons...you make ice tea and sell it for a profit.

Brown Lemonade anyone? :)
(It's got some Jack Daniels in it, trust me.)

It's good I used my photo-bucket account to host all the pictures I used and edited. Being the slightly paranoid person I also pulled off all of Magnus's songs.

I kinda wish I had saved my quizzes though, just for posterity's sake. That was by far the most work I've ever had to do at the start of a game to make a character.

I saved all the quizzes I had completed except, somehow, the last one.

What I really wish I'd saved was the next-to-last PM I got. That was the one that made me decide to quit. I'd been debating it the night before, trying to decide if I wanted to put up with a GM that had a completely different understanding of the IC/OOC line than I did. Then I opened the forum and had this masterpiece of passive-agressive crap from him which included accusing me of making Aria wait four whole days for me to join a joint thread. Two of those days were me finishing my solo thread. The third was me looking for a good spot to make my entrance, not realizing that posting was less "three times a week" and more "as often and as fast as possible." During those three days, she played with NPCs.

<sarcasm>
Man. I must be an awful player all the time. Making other players actually play with NPCs and all.
</sarcasm>

And day 4 was mostly argument with him about IC/OOC divides and who was supposed to write my PC's entrance into a scene.

It was a spectacular PM. It needed to be posted to a Wall-O-Shame somewhere.

Oh my...

Never mind. :)

I am doing very well.

I practically have too much gaming going on, if that's possible.

Have fun kicking the coals.

Nah. I got the one hot one I was betting on. Beyond that it would be no fun.

I'm super glad to hear you are doing well, and enjoying gaming! A full plate is always a good thing when it comes to quality game play!

OMG, you are a riot Sean. The Russians could bottle that up and use it to poison their enemies. :)

Enough. I think we’re done here. No one wants to play in a sandbox that people are busy peeing in.

Actually, this forum is pretty much exactly for that. More or less.

That aside, I'm not really impressed with you coming into this thread and trying to stir things up, Sean. You've been active on this board since this was going, so don't act like it all passed you by while you weren't looking. There's plenty of hard feelings left from your bridge burning that it wouldn't take much to get people riled up again. Please do not.

My point exactly. You just put it much more nicely. I suppose that’s why they keep me locked away from others up at work...that or the letter opener thing...but let's not go there...

OMG! Magnus LIVES! And so does Francesca! In HELL no less.

I haven't gone back to the WHAT IF site for a long time, but someone just pointed out to me that my character was being used as a NPC now.

I love that character, I just want anyone who joins and plays the WHAT IF Amber game that I am the creator of that character and I do not approve of Magnus's continued use.

So there. :P
