There were times that called for the use of ancient and powerful words, the acknowledgment of humans in a crisis everywhere and everywhen since language was first invented. This was one of them. "Shit." Aurora said.

Last night my flat mate and I returned home from a game to find that our flat had been broken into. Someone had literally kicked a hole in our front door (after trying to jimmy and failing, judging from the marks on the door jamb).

These lowlifes (there was probably more than one judging from the size of some of the stuff taken) stole our TV, stereo, dvd player, about half my dvd collection, my pocket watch, my cuff links, some miscellaneous stuff and my doona cover (presumably to haul away the dvds). They ransacked through my wardrobe and drawers looking for other stuff.

We called the police and waited four and half hours (until 3:30 am) for them to turn up. This morning, I'll have to call the real estate agent and see about getting the front door replaced. It's a public holiday here today so this could be fun.

The worst part is the feeling of invasion. This place, which I love, just doesn't feel quite so safe any more.

The only bright spot is that they only stole stuff. Nothing was vandalised, except the door.

Just needed to vent. Thanks for reading.
