The context is important. But the Met is far better positioned for education, access, and upkeep. Those are very important reasons, in my opinion, for keeping it in their hands.

Now, if it was the rapacious and avaracious Getty Museum which had the chariot, I might be inclined to disagree with you. But the Met is one of the "better actors" in this business and I think the chariot should be shown in the context of other period pieces--at the Met, not in a room by itself in a Italian Village.
